Voltage Drop Calculator
It is based solely on Voltage Drop formulas and is not meant for conductor sizing based on Table 310-16 Allowable Ampacitys of Conductors, of The National Electrical Code. Please consult The NEC for further details on ampacity of conductors. Help with Calculator

Using the Voltage Drop Calculator
Requirements:
1.You will need a Java capable web browser that supports Java version 1.0.2 . Minimum of
version 3.0 Netscape Navigator, or minimum version 3.01 Microsoft Internet Explorer. 2.You
need to enable Java in your browser's settings.
Usage:
Ex. 1
To find the voltage drop of a #12 copper conductor at 3-phase 208 volts, and drawing 10
amps with a one-way run of 100 feet:
Select 'Voltage Drop' from the 'Calculation Type' list, select '#12' from the 'Wire Size'
list, select 'Copper' from the 'Material' list and select 'Three Phase' from the 'Phase of
Circuit' list, then input your remaining values into their respective fields. Click the
'Calculate' button. If you choose to copy these values, click the 'Report' button and a
report will be generated in a separate window so you may copy it.
Ex. 2
To find the minimum wire size for a load of 5 amps at 120 volts single-phase with a
one-way distance of 150 feet and a maximum voltage drop of 3%:
Select 'Wire Size' from the 'Calculation Type' list, select 'Copper' from the 'Material'
list and select 'Single Phase' from the 'Phase of Circuit' list, then input your remaining
values into their respective fields. Click the 'Calculate' button. Your minimum wire size
will be selected in the 'Wire Size' list. If you choose to copy these values, click the
'Report' button and a report will be generated in a separate window so you may copy it
The 'About' button will show the copyright notice in the status bar of your browser,
if you wish to see more info you can type 'info' in the distance box, then click the
'About' button.
If you have any report windows open when you quit your web browser, they will also
close with it.
